The BarDIMM Box adds BarDIMM intelligent barcoding capability to PCL5 network printers that do not accept the BarDIMM Pro USB stick.
It is transparent for the host application sending print jobs to the printer, and adds the Barcoding intelligence inside the PCL5 print flow sent to the printer port 9100.
BarDIMM Box v10 and later
This documentation only applies to BarDIMM Box v10 and later, they can be identified with their part number JM30210 on the back of the label and their lite, compact and flat design.
That BarDIMM Box design can be seen in the photo below.
Earlier BarDIMM Box (2.0 to 9.0)
The documentation for earlier BarDIMM Box is available as a PDF on that page.
BarDIMM Box v10 architecture
There is one BarDIMM Box v10 per printer and the unit is attached behind the printer.
- Earlier BarDIMM Box were acting as a server, were the destination IP address for the host and needed to be configured.
- The BarDIMM Box v10 simplifies greatly the installation and usage:
- it features two LAN ports, one to connect to the LAN and one to the printer
- It acts transparently between the LAN and the printer, enriching the PCL5 print flow sent to the printer IP address, port 9100.
- hosts are sending PCL5 print jobs directly to the printer IP address, ignoring the BarDIMM Box IP address
- Postscript and PCL6 print jobs are ignored and untouched
The BarDIMM Box v10 is attached on the back of the printer, connects to the printer and the network, powers from the printer USB port or an external power supply.

BarDIMM Box v10 (P/N JM30200)
Optional power supply (P/N JM30210)
Required if the printer on which the BarDIMM Box is mounted does not provide a USB port in the back to power the BarDIMM Box with 5V, 500mA.
If needed on your printer model, configure the printer so that the USB port stays powered when the printer goes into sleep mode. This is required to keep the BarDIMM Box powered when the printer is on. If the BarDIMM box stays on when the printer is in (deep) sleep mode there is no need to change the printer configuration.
